Among Facilitators, Instructors, Advisors and Educators – How Teachers Educate for Sustainability in Design and Craft Education

Abstract Design and craft education, like that of the Swedish school subject, Sloyd, has great potential for Education Sustainable Development (ESD). With so many possibilities, it is relevant to investigate what teachers teach about sustainability, how. Therefore, aim this article examine Sloyd express they do as educate sustainability in design education (Grades 3–9). This guided by two research questions: (1) What ESD content prominent teachers’ statements their teaching? (2) expected learning outcomes teaching strategies become visible ESD? Our analysis qualitative questionnaires answered 70 shows working with materials a key factor teachers. Specifically, three have been identified: utilise material, use sustainable maker materials. The most common are instructing advising strategies, where goal known beforehand teacher. findings discussed relation mix concepts different logics emerge expressions also consequences education.
